Attero's waste-to-energy plant in Moerdijk has been in operation since 1997 and was expanded with a fourth incineration line in 2008. The plant converts one million tonnes of household and similar commercial waste from the Netherlands, England and Ireland into energy every year. The waste is brought in by trucks and ships.

It is one of the most energy efficient waste power plants in the Netherlands because of the production of high pressure steam. Currently, the construction of a new steam turbine generator is in the final phase. This will provide 120 megawatts of power to the electricity grid per January 1, 2018. The energy supply of the installation is flexible because it can become switched to supply heat in the form of steam.
