In the Netherlands, Attero is the market leader in processing VGF waste into compost products and sustainable energy and their sales. They are the roots of Attero.
In 1929, Attero started this circular concept at its Wijster site. Now we have seven sites where we convert nearly half of all Dutch VGF waste into more than 250,000 tonnes of compost. Attero also produces green electricity and green gas from VGF on four of its sites.
In Tilburg, Maastricht, Venlo and Deurne we have our tunnel-composting plants, in Wijster and Moerdijk we compost in large halls, and in Wilp we compost in the open air. In Tilburg, Venlo, Wilp and Wijster we also digest VGF and produce green electricity and green gas from the biogas. The plant at our Venlo site has been expanded with a special two-stage digester. This technology offers the opportunity to produce biosubstrate raw material. At several sites we convert organic industrial waste into soil improvers and sustainable energy. The woody fraction that remains after processing organic flows is used as fuel in our biomass power station in Odiliapeel. The produced steam is used to steam peel potatoes in the adjacent factory of PEKA Kroef.
