The name “compost” is derived from Latin and means what has been brought together.
To us compost is a stable, safe product that is rich in organic matter and that is the result of a controlled composting process.
Composting = recycling
Composting is probably one of the oldest recycling processes of organic matter. This naturally slow process is accelerated by optimising certain conditions. The amounts of oxygen and water influence the activities of bacteria and moulds that are naturally present in the organic matter. They biodegrade the material and use the biodegradation products for their own life processes. This process takes place in aerobic conditions rich in oxygen. The microbial activity raises the temperature and that creates a hygienic and safe product.
Compost contains a large amount of organic matter and improves the soil structure. Compost also contains nutrients and trace elements.
